Where are you from?
I was born in Berlin, went to school here, studied here and have never worked anywhere else. So you could say that I am a true Berliner.
Why (what was your motivation) to apply/start at KMS?
I often say for fun: "I was young and needed the money." In fact, I have been working at KMS since 2004. and it was and still is the first full-time job I took after finishing my studies. At that time, I had no real ideas about what I should want in an employer. As you can see, I just stayed here.
What specifically are you doing at KMS?
Officially, I am employed as a full-stack developer. My primary area of responsibility is the maintenance and further development of our backend software and the maintenance of our legacy applications. On the side, I am the first point of contact for second-level support, manage our server infrastructure and make sure our chocolate supplies don't spoil.
What are you excited about at KMS?
I work in a team with people who love writing code at least as much as I do. The technical discussions and the mutual exchange of ideas on difficult issues bring a lot of variety into the daily work routine. The great thing about these people is that they come from all over the world and that's why our conversations at the lunch table are not just limited to technical matters, but we always learn something new about our different cultures.
What surprised you the most about KMS?
I have already been through two moves because our previous offices became too small. Each time the space has improved, and our current office is so well designed that I prefer to work in the office rather than at home, despite our generous home office arrangement.
